The northern French side of St. Maartin offers a relaxed and sophisticated Caribbean atmosphere with strong French influence. Known for its charming seaside towns, boutique hotels, gourmet dining, open-air cafés, and quieter beaches, the area is especially celebrated for its laid-back pace and exceptional culinary scene, particularly in Marigot and Grand Case.

St. Maarten is perfectly positioned in the northeastern Caribbean, making it one of the best gateways for exploring multiple nearby islands. With easy access via ferries, private boat charters, and short airplane rides, you can experience a wider range of Caribbean destinations with minimal travel time. 

Just a short journey away is Saint Barthélemy (St. Barth’s), known for its luxury boutiques, high-end dining, and stylish beach clubs set against a polished French-Caribbean backdrop. A day trip to St. Barth's is one of the excursions STAR has planned if you choose to attend. Nearby, Anguilla offers a completely different feel with its quiet, uncrowded beaches and relaxed atmosphere, ideal for a slower-paced escape.

Also within reach are islands like Saba and Statia, both famous for dramatic volcanic scenery and diving, as well as Saint Kitts and Nevis, which blends rich history, rainforest landscapes, and scenic coastal views. However, Saba, Statia, and Saint Kitts and Nevis do require a short 15-20 minute plane ride to get to. 

Sonesta Ocean Point Resort is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort located in Maho Bay on the Dutch side of St. Maarten.
