Pre and post trip extensions are welcomed and encouraged.  Please indicate upon registration, if you wish to extend your stay.  We will research the best flight schedules and you will only pay the difference in fare of a return ticket cost at the time of booking.  We encourage you to register early for the best flight options and fares.  You will be responsible for transportation to/from the hotel to/from the airport if you are not arriving/departing on the group dates. 

It is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation to enter Costa Rica and to return to Canada. If you do not have the proper identification necessary or if you are refused entry for any reason, A Buyer's Choice Home Inspections (ABCHI)  cannot be held responsible.  

Passports are mandatory for entry to Costa Rica. Canadian citizens who wish to apply for a passport can visit the following site for Canadian passport information (link will open in a new window).  

Canadian Landed Immigrants will require a Permanent Resident Card to return to Canada on a commercial aircraft. For further information or an application, please contact 1-888-242-2100 or www.cic.gc.ca  

Please note the average high temperature in Costa Rica at the time of our ABCHI Club trip is 35°C and the average low is 21°C.   

The dress code for the ABCHI Club trip is generally casual comfort throughout the day. The Awards dinner is "White Night" so winners and guests are asked to wear white attire. As the weather can fluctuate at this time of the year it is always best to have a jacket or light sweater with you.  

• Return airfare from your home city to Costa Rica for your trip dates of April 13-18, 2024;

• Return transfers (on group dates) from airport to hotel;

• 5 nights accommodation based on double occupancy at Secrets Papagayo;

• All food and beverage at the resort (as offered as part of the all-inclusive package);

• Room service 24 hours a day;

• ABCHI Club Welcome Reception;

• Group excursion - Palo Verde Boat Tour & Cultural Experience;

• ABCHI Club Awards dinner.

• Personal shopping or items of a personal nature (additional excursions and food and beverage not included in program inclusions);  
• Any travel outside of program dates;  
• Activities and excursions not outlined in the conference itinerary; 
• Car rental;  
• Extension arrangements.  
• Travel insurance of any kind, including medical and baggage;  
• Incidental expenses / personal gratuities;  
• Medical services;  
• Spa services;  
• Anything not specifically listed as an inclusion.  

Costa Rica is on the Central Standard Time zone all year. 

The voltage is the same as home, so adapters and converters are not required. 

Local currency is the Costa Rican Colón (CRC), but US dollars are widely used and accepted. All major credit cards are widely accepted. Foreign currency can be exchanged at the front desk and at local banks.  

Gratuities are included with your all inclusive package, however, should you wish to leave a tip for any service staff, they are always greatly appreciated. 

The hotel will maintain an incidental account to cover your personal expenses such as shop purchases, spa or salon services etc., which are not included in the program. Please make sure you settle this account prior to checking out. Major credit cards, cash and travelers' cheques are accepted forms of payment and a credit card imprint will be collected at check-in. Personal cheques will not be accepted.  

Insurance is not provided as part of the ABCHI Club trip but will be available for purchase if required. A minimum coverage of 'emergency medical out of country' insurance is required for all participants. We highly recommend purchasing full trip interruption and cancellation insurance. Your insurance details will be collected as part of your registration. 

The ABCHI Club trip is non-refundable. If you must cancel on the day of the trip for unforeseeable, extenuating circumstances, please contact Kelly MacDonald at 902-476-1404.  You will be responsible for any non-refundable costs incurred by ABCHI for any award winner (and guest) initiated changes or cancellations after ABCHI Club registration.

The ABCHI Club trip trip must be accepted as offered, has no cash value and is valid only for the dates and location specified.  If you cannot attend, please advise as soon as possible, so it may be awarded to the next winner.
